CHAPTER ONE
The Town of Affirmation Nation
There's a town you've never heard of. It doesn't appear on maps. The roads in don't have signs. People who live there mostly stopped looking for the way out a long time ago - not because they can't leave, but because they never found a reason to.
The town used to hum. Markets on weekends. Music from Willow's Tea Corner drifting down the main street. Blaze (back when Blaze was still just an emotion, not a walking fire hazard) warming up the square on cold mornings.
Then something shifted. Nobody agrees on what exactly - only that it did. The town went quiet. The buildings got smaller somehow, greyer at the edges. People stayed inside. The Menies started showing up.
CHAPTER TWO
The Menies
Nobody created them on purpose. They grew from feelings that nobody got around to processing - anger left too long, sadness that curdled, anxiety that kept pacing and pacing until it grew legs.
Menies aren't villains. They're symptoms. When the town stopped talking about how it felt, the feelings didn't go anywhere - they just took up space until they had enough mass to knock things over.
You can't fight a Menie. You can only name it. Acknowledge it. Give it somewhere to go. That's where the affirmations come in.
CHAPTER THREE
Why Words Work Here
The town responds to language. Not in a magical, wave-a-wand way - more like how a garden responds to water. Slowly. Visibly. With some things blooming before others.
When you write an affirmation in the morning, the residents hear it somehow. Not the words exactly - more the intention behind them. Willow stands up a little straighter. A window that was boarded up gets unboarded. Blaze cools down by three degrees.
Nobody talks about how it works. They just know it does. And that might be enough.
What Really Happened Here?
The full story unfolds as you heal the town. Some residents know more than they're letting on. Some buildings have locked rooms. And safe - the player character, the tiny cloud with no memory - might be more connected to what happened than anyone realises.
